OUR STORY

Our story begins with a love of the sea and of food. And like all good ideas it started with a bottle of red wine on a cold wet winter night in Grey Lynn, in New Zealand’s biggest city Auckland. Erin {my salty Partner) had been enthusing over an artisan salt she had bought. Perry had a lifelong interest in food and cooking but had never really thought too much about salt. As things progressed - and another bottle of wine, with a pen and a piece of paper in hand, we began to dream…. of course it didn’t take long! Throw in the corporate jobs, move to the bach (holiday cottage) in glorious Opito Bay, Coromandel and make wonderful sea salt! 

Well in the end we did it. After a year of experimentation – both good and bad, we moved, got locked down, built our first greenhouse and and now 3 years on, we now have 11 greenhouses and planning more! We’ve now won a raft of awards for our salts and seasons and ship them around the world.

We love the Coromandel and try to source local ingredients to combine with our salt. We love the sun, the pristine clean water and remoteness of Opito – which all somehow comes together in our hand-crafted mineral rich sea salt.

SUNSHINE + PATIENCE + LOVE

Each luscious crystal of 100% natural solar evaporated Coromandel Sea Salt from Opito Bay has been carefully crafted through the combination of our three key ingredients sunshine + patience + love. After gathering pure sea water from one of Coromandel’s iconic beaches, the pristine Opito Bay. We settle, filter and carefully solar evaporate our salt in small batches to create big, translucent crystals which bring out the coast’s unique minerality. Then we lovingly harvest each grain and package in environmentally sustainable packaging to retain its quality. The result is an authentic and delicious premium sea salt with a satisfying soft crunch that melts on your tongue delivering a well-balanced salty-minerally kick.
